All CSWD Drop-Off Centers, the Organics Recycling Facility, and the Environmental Depot will be closing at noon on Wed. 11/27 and closed on Thurs. 11/28 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Items Banned From Landfills
CSWD’s Ordinance (Section 4.13) requires that all residents and businesses separate the following items from their trash and manage them appropriately. In many cases the material is also banned from the trash by State and Federal law.
Hazardous Waste
- Paints, stains, varnish & thinner
- Mercury-containing devices
- Waste oil, oil filters, & automotive fluids
Dangerous Wastes
- Explosives, fireworks, & gasoline
- Syringes & lancets
- Medical waste
- Compressed gas cylinders and tanks
Special Materials
- Asphalt shingles (landfill ban suspended until 8/31/2023) Asbestos-free only
- E-waste: Computers & accessories, Phones & mp3 players, TVs
- Lead-acid & rechargeable batteries
- Large appliances: Refrigerators, ranges, washers, dryers, dishwashers, freezers, water heaters
- Plywood: Clean & unpainted only
- OSB (Oriented Strand Board): Clean & unpainted only
- Scrap metal
- All single-use and rechargeable batteries (as of July 1, 2024)
