What makes this Organics?
Food scraps are banned from the trash so bring them to us. We combine the thousands of tons of food scraps (bones and meat included) we receive at our facilities with leaves, natural wood, and other Organics to make premium Green Mountain Compost.

- RESIDENTIAL: 30 gallons of food scraps per day for no fee. To view accepted items, please visit our Organics page.
- BUSINESSES: Food scrap pickup businesses operating in Chittenden County must be licensed by CSWD.
Anyone else who needs to bring more than 30 gallons of food scraps must call 802-503-7926 before visiting. - All loads are monitored. NO PACKAGING OR PLASTIC OF ANY KIND is allowed. We allow uncoated paper and certified compostable liner bags ONLY.

Cash, check with name, current address and phone number, AmEx, Discover, MasterCard and Visa credit and debit cards. A 3% convenience fee will be added to all credit card transactions.
What you need to know:
- All CSWD Drop-Off Centers accept up to 30 gallons of any type of food waste or scraps for no fee if you also bring a minimum of 13 gallons of trash. Click the “Organics Recycling Facility” tab for the no-fee option, or if you have more than 30 gallons.
- NO PACKAGING OR PLASTIC OF ANY KIND is allowed. We allow uncoated paper and certified compostable liner bags ONLY.
