What makes this Special Materials?
Computers and their peripherals (speakers, printers, cords, etc.) and televisions must not go in the trash because they contain materials that can be recycled into new products and because they could cause harm to environmental health. They are considered Special Materials because they cannot go in the trash OR the recycling bin. Fees for recycling televisions and computers are covered under Vermont’s E-Cycles law.

How Can I get Rid of It?
What you need to know:
- Televisions (TV), computers, and computer peripherals (monitor, keyboard, speakers, printer, mouse) are covered under Vermont’s E-Waste Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) law, which provides for their recycling across Vermont for no fee.
- Chittenden County residents, businesses or municipalities with under 10 employees, K-12 Schools and non-profit institutions may bring up to 1 cubic yard of items to the facilities listed below. (if location is at capacity for these items, customers may be asked to return on another day)
- For quantities over a cubic yard, please call us to set up an appointment. 802-872-8100
