Waste Management Responsibility and Authority
To fulfill the requirements of our Charter and the Vermont Materials Management Plan, CSWD develops a five-year Solid Waste Implementation Plan designed to provide and implement programs and policies that further State and District policies and priorities.
To ensure our Members adhere to State and District policies and priorities, we have developed a Solid Waste Management Ordinance (SWMO). The SWMO dictates how trash, recycling, and other solid waste must be handled and disposed of within Chittenden County. This Ordinance is revised on an as-needed basis.
